Insect Art Peckish the Butterfly

Today for my insect art I've constructed a butterfly called Peckish and it was quite hard, trying to balance my masterpiece but I eventually got it. It was fun going outside and running around looking for the right plants. The materials for this project was a twig and 4 pieces of any flower.  I enjoyed doing this activity and I had so much fun and I know I always say this but I hope there another activity like this.

  2. Kia Ora Sau,

My name is Shannon, and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey.

What a beautiful butterfly! It’s such a pretty blue! Did you find a flower in that colour or did you paint it? I also like that you considered the body of the butterfly and used a stick for it. The name Peckish is fantastic! How did you come up with it?

I love butterflies, they’re my favourite insect. I live in Dunedin and we have a butterfly exhibit at the museum here. It’s in a super warm room and there’s a waterfall through the middle. The butterflies all flutter round freely, and eat from all the flowers growing in there. It’s amazing. I once even had a butterfly land on me! What’s your favourite insect?

    Happy blogging!

  4. Kia ora Sau,

I'm Whaea Vicki and I created this activity for the Summer Learning Journey. I'm so glad you enjoyed creating your butterfly! I love the colour of the petals you used for the wings. Did the petals come from a big flower or a small one? It's hard to see in the photo how big your butterfly. Even if there isn't another activity like this one, you could always create more insects to add to this post.
